This Hook & Loop (H&L) Soft Backing Pad is a 2” (50mm) diameter premium interface pad with hook and loop material on the face. Though it can be used on the single, fixed speed Merlin2®, we recommend it is best used on the variable speed model which allows greater control with its speed dial. This allows you to control the speed up or down depending on your application. You’re able to fit all our H&L 2”, 2.2” (50mm, 56mm) Signature Series sanding discs as well as our complete range of Merlin Sanding Stars.

The medium pad is firmer and greater pressure can be applied to large, uneven surfaces. It is more like the workhorse of the two. This soft pad conforms to the shape of the wood or workpiece. Using both medium and soft pads help build even and contoured, convex and concave shapes easier.
